SPORT: The legendary Pravda-Televízia-Slovnaft athletic competition brings in its 52nd year a host of world-renowned athletic stars (Russian Sergei Bubka, Slovaks Imrich Bugár and Matej Tóth) to the x-bionic sphere stadium. In total, almost 130 athletes from 33 countries of all continents will compete – and an independent competitor, Russian standing long jumper Daria Klishina will participate. Totally, there will be nine male disciplines and five female disciplines. The event will be also be broadcast live on RTVS 2. JAZZ FEST: One Day Jazz Fest – The popular jazz fest defies its name, as it has grown into a several-day event touring, apart form Bratislava, other cities around Slovakia. FESTIVAL: FUBABY – Festival of Art Banská Bystrica (Festival umenia Banská Bystrica- FUBABY) is the popular event promoting art and design in the streets of the city, thus promoting them amongst the wider public. FILM FESTIVAL: Art Film Fest 2017 – The 25th year of international film festival which was moved from Trenčianske Teplice to Košice combines the actual trends of world cinematography with film classics – and also Slovak films which proved successful at international festivals (Špina / Filth, OUT). Slovak actress-turned-diplomat Magda Vášáryová will receive an award, as will Czech actor Ondřej Vetchý and the head of Karlove Vary IFF (and actor) Jiří Bartoška. Apart from two international competitions, there will also be a selection of Slovak movies, a section of children’s movies, and a number of accompanying events (many in the Tabačka KulturFabrik). In total, 175 films from 47 countries will be screened. During the festival, a special carriage on the train between Bratislava and Košice will be screening festival films as well. OPERA/DERNIERE: Pietro Mascagni: Cavalleria Rusticana / Ruggiero Leoncavallo: I Pagliacci – The two shorter operas (a one-act and a two-act piece), are often combined to offer a full Italian operatic evening.
