TRAVEL
Visiting the High Tatra mountain huts
Even though most of the trails in the High Tatras are closed during the winter season, most of the mountain huts are still open and ready to be visited. This includes, for example, the chalet near Popradské Pleso lake which can be accessed even in winter with a stroller, or the chalets of Zbojnícka Chata, Téryho Chata, as well as newly renovated Zamkovského Chata which is situated on the trail leading to the latter.
However, both Zbojnícka and Téryho huts are located at an altitude of around 2,000 metres where there is a lot of snow, and as such proper winter gear and clothes are recommended.

Two comets in the night sky
Currently, two rather bright comets are visible from the territory of Slovakia with just small binoculars. However, in order to observe them, you will have to stay up way into the night. In March, the comet C/2021 S3 (PanSTARRS) is visible starting around 01:00 AM close to the Serpens Gauda part of the Serpens constellation. On the other hand, the comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is visible starting from around 02:00, or later until 22:00 above the Pegasus constellation.
