THE CENTRE Studia Academica Slovaca (SAS) introduced in Bratislava on February 15 a new textbook for foreigners learning Slovak.
The book is called Krížom-Krážom (Slovenčina A1). The A1 grade means it is best suited to absolute beginners.
The textbook is part of an Education Ministry project and will be distributed in Europe, the United States and Asia, Eva Španová of SAS told the SITA newswire. It is the collective work of six authors.
The textbook is the first in a series of six that will cover three levels, from A to C.
It comes with a CD that includes dialogues and phonetic exercises. The aim is to teach foreigners how to communicate in everyday situations.
Most of the book is written in the Slovak, but to make it universal, its authors wrote the introduction, explanation notes and dictionary in English.
SAS does not plan to translate it into other languages.
