Good evening. Here is the Monday, June 17 edition of Today in Slovakia - the main news of the day in less than five minutes.
President changes official website
Not even a day has passed since President Peter Pellegrini's inauguration, and the official standard disappeared from the official website of the post. The standard containing the coat of arms and white, blue, red band has been used by all previous heads of state, reported the Sme daily on Sunday.
It was replaced by a logo Pellegrini used during his campaign; it features the two stylized letters PP on a red background with a white, blue and red band in the lower right corner. The standard is not among the official state symbols.
The official website is property of the state funded from public resources and informs the public about the president's activities.
The press department of the Presidential Office says that they plan to continue using Pellegrini's logo "primarily in cases of digital communication, as we have been doing so far". Pellegrini's team says the logo was created to "reflect national elements", and are preparing other changes to the official website as "the current website does not meet today's technological needs".
The president plans on using the standard in all forms of official communication.
On Monday, the official website once again showed the standard in the top left corner.
