Hotel Kyjev developer in deadlock with renovation
After years of debates and speculation, the Lordship development group has chosen the path it wants to take in regards to the Hotel Kyjev in Bratislava's centre. Neither a significant reconstruction nor change of the facade of the well-known hotel is planned. The group wants to renovate the hotel. However, even these plans have run into problems due to preservationists.
EVENT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Katka Koščová concerts in Bratislava and Košice
This year too, Katka Koščová, the first Slovak idol, has prepared a Christmas tour. She will travel across Slovakia, making stops in Bratislava and Košice. In the two largest Slovak cities, on December 11 in the Big Lutheran Church in Bratislava and on December 12 in the Art House in Košice, special concerts with a string quartet and a choir are planned.
The singer has recently released a new album called Krehkosť(Fragility).

Foreign health workers working in Slovakia are obliged to pass the Slovak language exam by December 15 if they have not passed it yet, the Health Ministry said. The upcoming exam dates fall on December 7 and 11.
Slovaks have become more acutely aware of the profound impact of climate change and the need for immediate action in Slovakia and around the world, according to the results of the EIB Climate Survey.
Banská Bystrica has been named Slovakia's Enviro City of 2023, the Environment Ministry announced. The city's approach to environmental policies and the participation of local people in the implementation of environmental projects convicted the commission. The commission also awarded the towns of Púchov (green and circular economy), Liptovský Mikuláš (nature protection) and Vrútky (healthy city).
Slovaks have adopted a positive attitude towards the country's plastic bottle and can return scheme. Up to 97 percent of people know the system and have adopted its concept, a 2muse survey for the administrator of the system shows. (TASR)
Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party leader Richard Sulík claims that the mistakes regarding Expo Dubai 2020 only concern accounting. "I haven't got the slightest reason to believe that there was embezzlement, theft of money or even wasteful conduct in the case of Expo Dubai. However, I agree with the Supreme Audit Office that everything wasn't properly accounted for and all official procedures were not followed. Incorrect accounting does not mean that the money was lost," the former economy minister said in his statement on Tuesday.
WEATHER FOR WEDNESDAY: Little cloud cover. Almost no precipitation during the day. At night, especially in the east, you can expect snowfall. In the south, snow can mix with rain. The highest daytime temperature will reach 2°C in the south and -6°C in the north.
Snowdrift and snowfall weather warnings will be in place from tonight until tomorrow morning or midnight in central and eastern Slovakia. (SHMÚ)
