“A total of 130 travel agencies were interested in learning about Slovakia,” Peter Petian of the Slovak Embassy in New York, which was instrumental in arrangements for the September 28-30 event, told TASR.

Roundtables arranged as part of the presentations featured SACR's Adriana Behuňová and Eva Uherová. According to Petian, some representatives of American travel agencies had never learned or heard about Slovakia as an independent country.

A third of them had in the past visited Czechoslovakia while only a few set foot in what is today Slovakia. American tour operators were told about Slovakia's tallest mountain range, the High Tatras, and sites registered on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List as well as about a special offer by the Kempinski hotel chain at its winter resort in Štrbské Pleso as well as in Bratislava.
