Work on the restoration of Revište Castle near Žarnovica, central Slovakia, is going on in the colder months, too. In recent days, a drawbridge that is part of the second gate has been restored.
There used to be five drawbridges at the castle.
The recently restored drawbridge is the second one a visitor can see after entering the castle.
"Gradually, we want to make all five drawbridges visible to visitors. So far, we have managed to do that with four," noted chair of the Revište Castle Rescue Association, Ratibor Mazúr, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
However, they are not functional. There is no mechanism to raise and close the bridges.
Many things have been done this year, from vaulting rooms in the Southern Palace and organising events, to the continuation of the archaeological research in the courtyard of the Upper Castle.

Revište Castle is currently open to the public, with the exception of the views from the northern tower and the cannon bastion. The views will be accessible from spring.
