Express couriers go on-line
EXPRESS delivery is now part of an array of services available via the Internet.In Slovakia, a majority of customers still prefer to order a shipment over the phone, but courier firms are expressing confidence that the share of Slovak customers who use on-line delivery services will soon reach the numbers seen in Western countries.
KIA blames Slovak government for poor investment management
THE KOREAN carmaker KIA has taken a tough line on the Slovak government's handling of its car factory investment near north-western Slovakia's Žilina. In an official stand, the carmaker openly criticized the state for not providing subsidies to its 10 supplier firms.
The largest cargo centre
THE SENEC Cargo Centre, located near Bratislava, aspires to become the largest logistics centre in Slovakia, which would have a huge impact on the whole infrastructure of the western Slovak region. The centre, which stretches over 100 hectares, is the brainchild of Slovakia's IPEC Group and Austrian firm UBM Realitatenentwicklung AG.

Bird flu virus lands in Slovakia
SLOVAKIA has become a member of another international club - the rapidly growing global list of countries where the avian flu virus has been discovered. Agriculture Minis-ter Zsolt Simon confirmed on February 23 that H5N1 avian flu had been found in two samples taken from dead birds in the country.
