Water Forest revives High Tatras
A NEW forest is growing in the part of the Tatras that was devastated by a windstorm a year and half ago. It is the result of the Water Forest project, which has built over 4,000 water storage systems and planted 17,254 new trees on more than 50 hectares of the destroyed mountains.
State scrambles for substitute investor
SLOVAK authorities have pledged to help find a new investor for the impoverished southeastern Slovak town of Rimavská Sobota to replace the Dräxlmaier company of Germany, which suddenly scrapped a planned investment in the town in early May.

IF ALL goes as planned, number portability - the possibility to keep the same telephone number when you switch telecom operators - will be a reality for Slovak consumers from the beginning of 2007. Slovakia's two mobile phone operators will begin offering the service as early as June 2006, but the process with fixed lines could take a bit longer.
