Emotional politicians lead to bad debate on Beneš Decrees
INTERNATIONAL affairs are one of the few relationships that can do very well without being spiced up by emotions. Slovak-Hungarian relations are again getting far too emotional, which has never really benefited either side - except for the nationalist forces feeding on the tense atmosphere in both countries.

THE RATE of corruption in Slovakia is on the decline, but it is becoming concentrated in areas such as justice, the police and medicine, according to the latest Corruption Perception Index from the Transparency International non-governmental organisation.

NUCLEAR power stations, multi-billion crown construction investments and more renewable energy resources could be part of Slovakia's new energy security strategy by 2030. The document, which Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek presented to the press in late September, sets guidelines for Slovakia for over the next 23 years to establish a stable supply of energy.
New car models to be Made in Slovakia
NOW that they have settled in Slovakia, the country's car giants plan to extend their portfolio of models produced here.Korean carmaker Kia introduced its Pro Cee'd model at the Frankfurt car show on September 11, and France's PSA Peugeot Citroen plans to produce a new model in Slovakia by 2010.The Pro Cee'd is a three-door sport car version of the Cee'd, which was the first Kia Motors model produced in Slovakia.

THE LARGEST car show in Slovakia, Autosalón Nitra, is expected to benefit from good timing - it's being held on the heels of a famous car show in Frankfurt, which would attract a number of German car show unveilings and surprises to Nitra, organisers said.
