Western SLOVAKIA Bratislava CONCERT: LOVERS of pop music can look forward to another a glorious musical night in the Slovak capital. Rick Astley, the famous British singer and 2008 Best Concert Ever MTV Award winner, will perform live in Bratislava on January 23. Together with his best-known single “Never Gonna Give You Up”, the musician will perform his most successful hits since the 1980s. An oldies party is scheduled after the main programme. Kubiš stays on for crisis
JÁN Kubiš, the foreign affairs minister, is to stay in his post despite Prime Minister Robert Fico agreeing late last year that he would leave to take up a senior job at the United Nations. Kubiš' departure has been postponed at Fico's request, because of the protracted natural gas crisis.

Inflation slowed in December
THE INFLATION rate, measuring the prices of all goods and services, continued slowing at the end of last year. December’s inflation rate fell to 4.4 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in comparison to November’s y-o-y rate of 4.9 percent, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic reported.
