SMK to organise rally against Slovak State Language Act amendment

The ethnic Hungarian SMK party is planning to call a protest meeting aimed against an amendment to the State Language Act, with the rally likely to take place on September 1 in Dunajská Streda, SMK leader Pál Csáky told TASR on July 29. Slota: Slovak Parliament should respond firmly to Hungary's request

In his reaction to Hungarian parliament's chairperson Katalin Szili's fax demanding the rescinding of the amendment to the State Language Act sent to Slovakia's parliamentary chairman Pavol Paška (Smer) on July 24, SNS chairman Ján Slota said that the governing coalition should respond as early as the next session of the Slovak Parliament, the TASR newswire reported.
