When president Andrej Kiska was meeting Ružomberok's Mayor, Igor Čombor on March 16, the MP of Marian Kotleba’s party ĽSNS, Milan Mazurek, attacked a police officer. The man was allegedly a member of the unit protecting the state officials.
The punishment for attacking a public official is imprisonment from one to five years.
The police originally told the Sme daily only that they are investigating an attack against a public official. Later ĽSNS revealed that it was its MP, Mazurek.
He was defending his father Milan Mazurek Snr. who was trying to record the face of a police officer wearing civilian clothes with his cell phone. This was because the police officer was recording Mazurek's father with his camera, according to Mazurek Snr.
The police officer, allegedly, aggressively pushed Mazurek’s cell phone away, breaking his glasses. Then his son became involved. It was only then that we both learned that the man is a police officer, Mazurek Snr. claims in his criminal complaint. He filed it against an unknown offender for disorderly conduct and abusing the power of a public official.
Kiska’s office confirmed that it knows that the incident happened though they did not identify the people involved.
