The Nitra Castle cave is now open to the public, freely and throughout the year.
Visitors can visit the entrance area, which is 10 metres long. The entrance is in the northeastern part of the castle hill, writes the My Nitra website. The cave itself is situated in the local forest park below the castle, which has been closed to the public for years.

It was the Slovak Caves Administration that suggested making only a part of the cave accessible "due to the risk of falling".
The total length of the cave is 39 metres.
The administration had the cave cleaned in 2022. Waste had been deposited in it before.
The first archaeological research was done in the cave in 1931 by Jaroslav Böhm. He found refuse from the Middle Bronze Age. Experts assume that a prehistoric man lived in the cave.
In the 1950s, the cave rocks were damaged by the search for Turkish treasure. The cave suffered a lot in archaeological terms, experts said.
