Six seats, three minutes: Bachledova Valley’s cable car sets a new standard

The resort is drawing more foreign visitors, aided by air links with Poland.

A new six-seater cable car has opened at the Bachledova Valley ski resort near Ždiar, alongside the unveiling of a new National Training Centre.

The cable car spans a 1.1-kilometre route and can transport skiers to the top in just three minutes and 40 seconds, with a capacity of 2,950 people per hour.

“The new six-seater cable car will make this year-round mountain resort even more appealing by significantly increasing skier capacity,” said Slovakia Travel CEO Ivana Vala Magátová.

The resort attracts not only domestic visitors but also an increasing number of foreign holidaymakers, thanks to the air links with Poland. The Polish border is just 15 kilometres away.

The resort’s new training centre is set to enhance opportunities for skiers. Dušan Keketi, head of the tourism and sports ministry, highlighted the broader significance of the project. “This initiative supports young skiing talents with high-quality training facilities while boosting tourism in the region,” he said.
