Symphony made from junk
BROOMSTICK bristles swish, balls bounce, garbage cans clang, and oil drums boom. Even newspapers rustle. Sound and rhythm is lying dormant in everything around us. It just needs the right person using the item in the right way to awaken it.
New website fills info gap
SLOVAK leaders and important public figures will gather under one virtual roof this summer thanks to an online encyclopaedia project called Leaders.sk. A joint venture between Slovak publishing houses Petit Press and Trend Holding, Leaders.sk will give the public an up close and personal look at the Slovaks who shape our everyday lives.
Karol Plicka's lyrical vision
The Spiš Museum in Levoča, in cooperation with the Slovak National Museum in Martin and the Slovak Film Institute in Bratislava, presents an exhibition lyrically entitled Karol Plicka, The Poet of the Picture.

Spa industry sweats it out
REFORMS in the country's healthcare sector have reduced the number of patients seeking treatment at Slovak spas. The result is that spas are starting to focus on a different clientele - visitors from home and abroad interested in relaxation and wellness stays.
Slovakia advances from top spot
TEAM Slovakia clinched first place in its basic group at the World Ice Hockey Championship on May 4 with a powerful 8-1 victory over home side Austria.
