The man who fought fascism - and won

ARNOLD Scott-Schlessinger, born a Slovak Jew who, was handed an opportunity to fight fascism. All but 10 of his 60-member Slovak family failed to survive World War II, but Scott-Schlessinger escaped to Britain and joined the Czechoslovak battalion of the British air force.

Slovak gardens open borders

AT ONE time you would not have expected to find rainforest plants in a Slovak garden. But not any more. An example is the anthurium from South America that today can be found in many Slovak houses and greenhouses.
