As of December 2015 employers can ask for a payroll tax deduction if they hire a person registered with the labour office for at least six months, earning no more than 67 percent of the average monthly wage. The employee also has to have a permanent residency in a district with an unemployment rate higher than the national average. The employer should have no debts with the social insurer Sociálna Poisťovňa. He also cannot replace any of his current employees with the long-term unemployed. After meeting these conditions, employees and employers do not pay sickness, pension and unemployment insurance for the following 12 months.
