President will appoint Kurilovská as Police Academy rector
PRESIDENT Andrej Kiska received the proposal to appoint criminal lawyer Lucia Kurilovská to lead the Police Academy and the presidential office said it will publish the date of her appointment after Kiska returns from vacation.
NKÚ has found 10,871 violations of rules since 2012
SUPREME Audit Office (NKÚ) has found 10,871 violations of directives and filed 2,850 recommendations for bodies operating with state money on how to manage their activities more effectively since 2012. As a result those who were inspected have adopted 5,397 measures.
Police to close case on prosecutor vote

Slovakia braces for potential gas crisis
WHILE Russian natural gas continues to flow via Ukraine to Slovakia, the country is prepared for a potential gas crisis. Underground gas storage facilities are full enough to cover almost five months of natural gas consumption, while natural gas can also be transported to Slovakia via two reverse flows from the West, authorities say.

Police and prosecutor’s office to attend metal festival
THE POLICE, in cooperation with the prosecutor’s office, will supervise the heavy metal festival Gothoom that will take place between August 13 and 16 in Nová Baňa, Banská Bystrica Region. The special measures were adopted after protests from Christian activists and the local church, who say that the lyrics of the songs violate religious beliefs and advocate violence.
Reverse gas flow to Ukraine to start September 2
THE OFFICIAL launch of the reverse flow of gas to Ukraine via the Vojany-Uzhgorod pipeline will take place on September 2, the TASR newswire reported.
PMÚ fines construction firms for new cartel
THE ANTITRUST Office (PMÚ) has fined four unspecified construction companies €613,644 for signing a cartel agreement. The companies reportedly coordinated their activities in a public procurement that took place in 2010 in Košice Region. The decision is not valid yet since the fined firms can still appeal it.
Inflation at -0.1 percent in July, experts estimate deflation to continue
Annual inflation stood at -0.1 percent year-on-year in July, with core inflation remaining flat and net inflation reaching 0.5 percent, the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) reported on August 12.

SaS refuses to re-admit Droba
