Carpathian primaeval beech forests, which spread into eastern Slovakia, were listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007, but their boundaries have not been properly determined since then.
The area of primaeval beech forests will be reduced to a size smaller than the 2007 nomination project expected but larger than the map section suggested, Environment Minister Lászlo Sólymos (Most-Híd) told the TASR newswire.
"We need to find an adequate compromise," Sólymos said, as quoted by TASR.

The size of the area, as suggested in 2007, is unbearable, but the beech forest area marked in maps is too small, he added.
