Initiative aims to halt treaty
ONDREJ Dostál drafted a complaint to the Constitutional Court, arguing that rather than approval in parliament, Slovakia should have adopted the EU Constitutional Treaty through passing a constitutional law on the issue, then held a national referendum to confirm the law.

Getting ready for the Big Bang
THE EURO will become legal tender in 2009, replacing the Slovak crown and turning it into history. However, until the crown sinks into oblivion under the rays of the new European currency, the whole country must prepare for its introduction: state institutions and businesses, but also ordinary citizens.

Open: daily except Mondays through July and August. The rest of the year the cave is mostly open on weekends, but one can book a visit on other days too.
Jobless figures lowest in nearly a decade
THOUGH unemployment, along with regional disparities, remains one of the most painful issues in the country, the June jobless figures, which were the lowest since 1996, give valid reasons for optimism.
