Going green in summer

FOR THE seventh year in a row the city of Bratislava is organizing Green City, a project aimed at tidying and making the Slovak capital greener.At a press conference on July 14, city officials announced that the districts of Ružinov, Petržalka, and Lamač had been chosen for cleaning and greening this year.

Searching for common ground

Interview with Roman Kuruc, General Director of SARIO

STATE assistance needs more specific rules when it comes to deciding what level of incentives to grant to what type of investor. Roman Kuruc, general director of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) said the agency has now prepared such rules. They should make it easier to formulate a concrete offer to investors.

Railway company up for grabs

FREIGHT company ŽSSK Cargo, one of the first state-owned railway cargo companies to be privatized in Europe, can have no complaint about any lack of interest from foreign investors. Concerns from several countries are said to be eyeing the Slovak company, which could provide an important link to Russia and the East.

Court ponders EU treaty

AFTER Slovakia's Constitutional Court accepted a complaint from a citizens' group, which argued that parliament's approval of the EU Constitutional Treaty was against the Slovak Constitution, Slovakia's President Ivan Gašparovič signalled that whatever the court ruling, he does not consider it binding.
