TSS' SKI WINDOW: this season's final ski update
WINTER is over. Most resorts closed last weekend, April 9 and 10. Those who love spring skiing, however, can still enjoy slopes in the High and Low Tatra mountains and in Martinské hole. At Lomnické sedlo last weekend, I experienced well-groomed slopes but as the sun got stronger, snow eventually turned to slush.
Dancing through Slovak tradition, all day long
HUNDREDS of dancers from home and abroad will perform traditional dances from their ancestors at Bratislava's Istropolis on April 16 at the fourth annual Revived Dances festival. The multi-genre, mega-dance event will comprise contemporary choreographies inspired by traditions.
Park bug spreads
ANOTHER new industrial park has been opened in Slovakia. It is located near Spišská Nová Ves in the eastern part of the country.Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda officiated at the opening ceremony on April 5. Dzurinda's presence was recognition that the Slovak state wants to promote industrial parks as they are advantageous to the country as a whole and not just to investors.
The Tatran ibex
THE INSCRIPTION on the reverse side of this postcard tells us that this magnificent animal is a Tatran Ibex. But that must be wrong: ibexes do not live in the Tatras, and they never did. Or did they?
