Energy security - a top priority: Oszkár Világi
ENERGY supply security is a top priority. Though the Druzhba pipeline remains the key supply route at the moment and for the future, the renewal of the Adria pipeline is also important, Slovnaft CEO Oszkár Világi said in an interview with The Slovak Spectator. Világi also shared his thoughts on developments on the oil market, fuel quality, environmental safety, bio fuels and development in the Bratislava Region.
Slovaks united by euro ambitions: Barát
COMMUNICATION is more important than ever for Slovakia, with a year to go before it has to pass the preparedness test for joining the eurozone, said Igor Barát, Slovakia's government proxy for the introduction of the euro. Slovakia has to communicate intensively with EU institutions and convince the European Commission and the European Central Bank that it's ready.
Health Minister Valentovič changes his mind
SLOVAKIA'S Health Minister Ivan Valentovič has changed his mind over a proposal that has already brought turbulence to the country's health care sector.In May, the minister proposed the creation of a single public health insurer. But now he says that merging the two public health insurers, Všeobecná Zdravotná Poisťovňa and Spoločná Zdravotná Poisťovňa, before the adoption of the euro is not such a good idea.
Anna of Tyrol to be crowned in Bratislava - again
BRATISLAVA's illustrious history as the most important coronation city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire will be on display the weekend of September 1 and 2 as actors in costume fill the Old Town to re-enact the coronation of Anna of Tyrol, the wife of Matthias, King of Hungary and Bohemia.
